All FIRST YEARS certificate courses have a similar "look and feel," thanks to Blackboard, our course management system. This means that once you get comfortable using Blackboard, navigating through the course materials will seem "a natural," just as natural as walking into a traditional classroom and taking your seat. FIRST YEARS - Blackboard Tutorial is an actual course managed in Blackboard that allows you to explore the features you will find in our certificate courses. To access it, you will need a Web connection to http://blackboard.unc.edu, the site where UNC houses all Blackboard courses. Once there, you will login as a "Non-onyen" account using "fystudent" (all lowercase, seen at right) as both the user name and password, then click on the course link to "FIRST YEARS - Blackboard Orientation." The tutorial should take about 2 hours, so plan your time accordingly. You may logon any time, as many times as you wish. If you only have a few minutes now, check out the short course, which highlights the major course features. You may wish to print out this information to use as a reference when you have time to explore the full tutorial.
